22w1d

2 more weeks until viability! The closer it gets, the more relaxed I get. I am still a little nervous and worry, but I think that is normal. I just want him to be ok and healthy.

So Matthew at week 22 gestational age now weighs a full 1 lb! He's a growin! He is like a small doll size now. So, if you think of a small doll you used to have...well that's about how big Matthew is. He's kicks are getting stronger now. He's kicked me pretty good lately. It makes me laugh when he kicks me hard because it's always very random. I've been feeling kicks in different places now - like really far on my side, and a couple of inches above my belly button. It's cute. He also perfers me to sleep on my left, because when I turn to my right, he kicks and kicks me like "Turn over mom!" He's not kept me up or woken me up yet, but I can see how that will eventually happen, as his kicks are getting stronger. Matthew can also hear most things outside the womb now. He can hear me and other people talking, dogs barking, loud TVs/music, etc. His eyelids are still fused, but he can perceive light now. If you shine a flashlight on my belly, or I go sit outside on a sunny day, he can perceive the light. So, that's kinda cool. I don't know when the eyes start opening... He's also grabbing on the umbilical cord and and testing out his grip. But no worries as it doesn't hurt anything - all babies do it.

I'm trying to enjoy a chill week. I worked yesterday, had clinical with students today, I work tomorrow, then I'm done for the week. I am planning to go with Brian to work/school on Thursday. I usually try to go once a year, but I didn't make it last year at all. So, I figured I'd go ahead and go while I still feel pretty good. Some school work is on the agenda (as usual) and the warm and beautiful weekend will be filled with baseball and Easter festivities. Good times.

  1. My favorite memory of being pregnant was Andrew kicking me. Since you start feeling it all the time you kind of get used to them, but it was alway interesting to see Joey's reaction. In fact because of "our sides" of the beds, if I was laying on my left side, my tummy would be next to Joey's back and he used to get woken up by little kicks :) Andrew was ready to play with his daddy pretty much right from the beginning!!!
