The wait is over!!
IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!
Crazy! That was the first thing the u/s tech did was ask us if we want to know, and of course we said yes, and she went right for the legs and there it was! 99.9% sure it's a boy! :)
All the measurements looked great too! Based on his head and femer size, he is measuring 18w3d...a whole week ahead. They are not offically changing my due date of 8/2 because we know when I ovulated, but they are thinking the end of July now, like July 28th or 29th. I don't know what to tell people when they ask me how far along I am! Because technically I'm 17 1/2 weeks, but baby is measuring a whole week ahead. What do I say? Do I say how big he is, or where I am supposed to be?
The u/s was so cool though because they measure the head, and legs, and look at the heart, kidneys, bladder, diaphram, umbilical cord, the insertion point, soft/hard palates, etc. They can tell of 60% of congenital abnormalities with this u/s (obviously can't get it all) but everything looked great! I'm so happy he's doing so good in there!
We also saw him swallowing! He started face up at us as usual, and then turned over to lay on his stomach. The tech had a hard time getting a good look at his heart because 1. of my anterior placenta, and 2. his arm was covering his chest. But she eventally got it. I've got some great u/s pics that I'll post later, probably tomorrow morning.
So, right after the u/s we called our family and then went to Babies R Us and bought our first outfit for Matthew together. Oh that's his name. Matthew Thomas. It's cute - blue and brown with a little puppy on it! And little tiny socks to match! I'll post a pic of that later too!
Anyway, I'm so happy and so excited! It's amazing!
Woot woot!!! Matthew Thomas, Aunt K loves you!!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! I am so excited for you guys.
ReplyDeleteI loved the U/S's too! That's great he's measuring ahead. He's a strong boy! You can say what you are -- 17 1/2 weeks b/c that's when you ovulated and that's what you've been going with. Guess that's why they give 2-3 weeks cushion on when baby comes (b/w 38 and 41 weeks). Really it doesn't matter - say whatever makes you happy! :) Needless to say Matthew is going to be spoiled rotten by his aunts (and grandparents too i'm sure!). next order of business --- baby shower!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Christina, you can say whatever you want about his age. We just stayed with the weeks I "was" based on my last missed period. The weeks he is ahead will vary with each u/s. I cannot wait to see pics, those are so special when you can actually see a baby in there.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about the shower, I have been thinking about it since December...lol! Christina, I am sure you and Karen have it covered, but if you need any help, let me know.
Another sweet baby boy in our family! He will be so loved by all of us and so welcomed into this world. Time to do more shopping! OK, I guess we can change the pink ribbon on the lamb that I gave you to blue! I'll fix it when I come down for your graduation. I'm so proud and pleased about this baby. Love and kisses from Matthew's Grammy.
