And I'm blogging to you from work! It's early morning hours, just after 1am. I've got a few minutes so I decided to update!
Matthew is just under 5 lbs now. He should be around 4 lbs 11 oz or so. He is around 19 inches long as well. Matthew is dreaming when he sleeps and is very active when he is awake. I can't prove the dreaming part, but the active part I can for sure. He is a mover now. I feel him better than ever at this point. I thought his movements would slow down a bit because he's running out of room, but to me they just feel stronger. I think this may be due to the fact that my placenta is in the front and he's now big enough that I can feel all his movements, even through the placenta, whereas before the placenta blocked and padded his movements.
Our childbirth class went well on Saturday. It was a long day, but worth it for sure. I think it was more helpful for Brian, but it was helpful to me too being as I've never experienced it. We both went home and took naps.
My first night at work last night went well. Everyone is nice and helpful and I feel at home for the most part. I guess because I started out in an ICU, so it's not foriegn to me. Tonight, so far, is basically a repeat from last night. I seem to have adjusted ok to the night shift. I don't really like it that much, but it's manageable, esp. for only 2 nights. Matthew is probably very confused with his time now. He's adjusted with me, but I'm sure it wasn't too fun for him.
We got some bad news today - Brian's grandma has been very sick for a while, and she took a turn for the worse last night. They had to take her to the ER - I'm not sure why. But, they decided and she decided that she was done with dialysis. So, she's got 1-10 days left. Brian spent the afternoon over at her house today, and the rest of the family was there. She is not really eating anymore, and she doesn't have much strength to talk either. She will say a few words, but very limited. So, I guess she'll probably pass by the end of the week. I've already let my supervisor know at work, just in case. I knew it was coming - we all did - but it is still sad. I know she'll be much better off in heaven - but its hard to tell someone bye that you love. Even though she's not my grandmother, she's been very much like a grandmother to me. I've spent alot of time with her over the past 12 years. I was hoping Matthew would give her a reason to live a bit longer, but I guess when you are ready and your body is tired...I am sad that Matthew will not get a picture with his great-grandmother.
