Sorry for the extreme lateness of this week's post. I've been so busy with work and then getting other stuff done on my days off.
At 34 weeks, not too much is going on with Matthew. He is just fattening up! His fingernails have grown long enough now to reach the end of his fingertips, so we'll need to have the nail clippers ready and the mittens so he doesn't scratch his face. Hopefully he has not and does not stratch his face till he's out and we can keep him from straching. Matthew could be as long as 20 inches now - and he is weighing almost 6 lbs.
It looks crazy to see my baby ticker say "38 days to go". It doesn't seem like that long ago it was 200 and some days to go! You know how some people get really ansy at the end and just ready to go because they are "tired of being pregnant"? I don't feel that way at all. Don't get me wrong - I'm READY to see Matthew, but I'm not miserable. I don't wish for this pregnancy to be over. Maybe it's because I've waited a long time to be this way, so I'm just trying to enjoy it all. I bet that is why I've had a good pregnancy so far - I don't let the uncomfortableness, the stretch marks, the weight gain, the swollen ankles aka cankles, the jab to the ribs, pressure on and in my belly, aches and pains, trouble sleeping, peeing all the time, etc. get to me. It really is not bad. I think it's all about perspective though. But, I'm def. ready to see him! I wish time away and then I don't at the same time. I want the next few weeks to go by fast, but then I want to enjoy it. Can't I have both??
So, I'm done with orientation at work. I start my weekends finally. Yesterday was my last day on orientation - I worked 3 days in a row. This has not been done since the end of April! It wore me slam out. And my ankles did not like it at all. They are better this morning - still a little swollen but that is normal I think at this point in pregnancy and as hot as it is. So I'll start Sunday night, then the next weekend will be Sat and Sun day, then Sat and Sun night the following week, etc, etc. So, yeah I'll be working on my birthday next weekend. I'm ok with it though. It will be THE FIRST TIME EVER that I've worked on my birthday. But, people do it all the time so I shouldn't be so spoiled. There's already talk we are going to have a party at work (people bringing in food and stuff) so at least that will be something.
My dad came this past Sunday (father's day) and took a bunch of maternity pictures. He let me see some of them as we were taking it, but I've not seen final pictures yet. He is coming over today to drop off a CD of the pictures. I'm pretty excited about a few of them - they looked pretty cool in his camera, so I'm sure they will be even better. I should be able to post a few later on...gotta get permission from the pops who has the copyright on the pictures though.
Tomorrow, my nephew Brayden has his first birthday party! And next week, we'll be headed to the beach for a couple of days. :) Yay for time off!

I think you will get to the point where you are READY for him to come. Not saying you didn't enjoy your pregnancy but eventually I think the anticipation will get the best of you. ;) I have worked on my birthday a few times...not as fun but oh well. You will be celebrating Matthew's birthday next month! I am sure dad won't mind you posting pics, since they are of you. Good seeing you today, you look fabulous, beautiful, and happy!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I was ever to the point that I just wanted to get Andrew out...but my water did break at 37 weeks. Maybe if I went the full 40 I would be singing another tune. Just you wait until some action starts going on, you will be excited, anxious, giddy, and panicky all at the same time. It is an emotion that there are no words to describe, and you will love it! One more month (or less) momma, I cannot wait for Matthew's birthday :)
