I heard baby's heart on doppler today! Hells yes!
I took care of a preg. lady today, and we always have to doppler their baby's heartbeat after surgery. So, I decided today that I was going to give it a whirl. You can usually hear it between 10-12 weeks.
So, when I have a min. I get the doppler and go to the bathroom. I put goop on my belly and go for it. Can't find it. I don't know where to look! So, I go consult google and retry. Still can't find it. I'm standing though.
So, later in the afternoon, my charge nurse (how is 4 weeks ahead of me) decides she is going to find it. I go lay down on one of our stretchers not in use in the back and she goes looking. Can't find it, but I know she won't because she's looking too high.
Then, I consult some folks online as to where to find it at 10 weeks. My chances are slim, but one girl told me to go above my hair line and 2 inches to the left. So, I go lay down, put the goop on, put the doppler wand just above my hair line and 2 inches to the left and turn on the doppler.
I then heard the most beautiful sound in the world. I didn't even have to move the wand at all. It was just there. SOOOO awesome!
I'm not sure how fast it was because I didn't have my watch on to count, but I can say it was def. above 150.
This was a milestone I have been waiting to get too. Hearing the baby's heartbeat is one of the few times that I feel 100% relieved. So, now that I've reached that milestone, I am a little more relaxed. The next one to reach is 2nd tri (though I really feel like everyday is a milestone in it's own way).
Nausea is getting better....I think. I mean, I still have my moments, but I was able to get hungry a little today and did not feel like I was going to hurl at any minute. So that was nice. I ate a cheeseburger 2 nights ago (oh yeah - first meat in weeks!) and a little hamburger helper last night. So, I think it's getting better. Well see!
Anyway, had to put the news about hearing baby's heartbeat on doppler ~ It was AWESOME.
Yes AWESOME is definitely the perfect word to describe that beautiful sound! <3
